How Churches Grow and Change

Our congregation is going through major, transformational changes. We are growing both qualitatively and quantitatively, and will be a different congregation in many ways in the near future. As we grow and change, we will have to adopt new ways of doing just about everything. The good news is that we aren't the first church to experience this! Congregations go through predictable and natural stages of growth and cycles of change. The four major types of churches (related to size, programming, and governance) are family, pastoral, program, and corporate. We are actually a program size church with a pastoral personality, a corporate governance structure, and a strong family heritage!

Recently, in a Seminar held in our church, Rev. Tittle discussed how we can successfully navigate our current changes to be an even stronger and more vibrant congregation in the future.
