Sunday Morning Children's Programming

Sunday Morning Children’s Programming:

Children begin each Sunday in the worship service with the entire community.  After the story for all ages, the congregation sings them out as they go to their own chapel service and religious education classes.  Please feel free to accompany your children if that makes them more comfortable.

Checking in your child

To ensure your child’s safety we ask that you check in your child at the table outside the sanctuary and put a security sticker on them.  The responsible adult should keep the matching sticker and present that to the teacher when picking up your child.

We use KidCheck for our check in, and you can create your free account at www.kidcheck.org.  This will let you check in your child using your phone number or you can get a scannable key tag at the checkin table.

If someone will be picking up your child who will not have the security number with them, please note that on the screen when checking in your child.

Children’s Chapel 9:45—10:30  Children’s chapel emphasizes UU identity, meditation, and Bible stories told from a UU perspective.  Ages 5 and up  are welcome.  Occasionally we will also have children’s chapel at the 11:30 service.

Nursery, Infants & Toddlers 9:15-12:30 Our professionally staffed nursery welcomes infants through age 4.

3-4 Year Olds 11:45—12:25 Spirit Stories Story time and creative play help children begin to talk about the big questions: Where did we come from? What are we doing here?  How do we choose to live our lives? What happens when we die?

Kindergarten - 1st Grade 11:45--12:25

Chalice Children Based on the premise that children learn best through experience, this program helps nurture spiritual growth, creativity and a sense of community through imaginative activities and rituals such as rhymes and fingerplays. Chalice Children introduces children to concepts such as birth and death, dreams and the natural world.

Upper Elementary (2nd—5th Grades) 11:45-12:25

“Toolbox of Faith”: Toolbox of Faith  invites elementary students to reflect on the qualities of our Unitarian Universalist faith, such as integrity, courage, and love, as tools they can use in living their lives and building their own faith. Each of the 16 sessions uses a tool as a metaphor for an important quality of our faith such as reflection (symbolized by a mirror), flexibility (duct tape), and justice (a flashlight).
