Wednesday Night Classes
Classes and adult enrichment activities are offered every Wednesday night following our community dinner and vespers service. Class topics include Unitarian Universalist identity, spirituality, world religions, ethics and current events. Classes are lead by our minister, staff and church members and begin at 7:00 pm. Information on class schedules is available in the Weekly Briefs, Uni*verse magazine and Sunday Order of Worship.
Our Buddhist Mediation Group meets every Sunday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the sanctuary for sitting, breathing and walking meditative practice. Newcomers are always welcome!

Our friendly group takes daytime excursions together to local landmarks, museums and historic sites. The outings usually happen on the second Friday of the month and include lunch at a restaurant. Everyone is invited to join in.Contact: LaVerne Nash
We are blessed to have a glorious group of folks to make up our Choir. The Choir sings for worship services every other Sunday (except summers). All adult singers who can carry a tune (whether they read music or not) are welcome to join. Rehearsals at 7:00 p.m. every Wednesday and Sunday mornings before the 9:30 a.m. service.

Community Service Team
Walk the talk of our UU Principles. It takes a little bit from all of us to strengthen our community. Join us for service projects including Baywind Retirement Center Outreach, Clear Creek Clean-up, Bay Area Turning Point Food Drive, Interfaith Caring Ministries donations, SEARCH Mitten Tree and more.

Mental Health Support Group
Parents of Young Children
Our Parents of UU Children Group offers the chance to connect with other parents, talk about family spirituality and enjoy great food and fellowship. All parents of elementary age children or younger are welcome. The group meets on the third Sunday of each month for a potluck and discussion. Childcare is provided for a small cost.

Great Decisions Speaker Series
Our BAUUC Great Decisions Speaker Series helps the church and community develop informed opinions on global political, economic, social and cultural issues. We present talks by experts on foerigh policy and other topics at the church on a regular basis.

Church Kitchen Crew
We love to share a good meal together at BAUUC. Our church kitchen crew is always seeking new volunteers to help with preparing and serving meals on Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings. Come join us!

Buddhist Discussion Group
Have you wanted to know more about Buddhism? Join David Overland, long-time Bay Area UU member and practicing Buddhist, for this new information and discussion group on Sundays at 12:15pm in room 131 (the office conference room). For more information, contact David Overland
Lunch with Liberals Group
Our "Lunch With Liberals" Group is a monthly lunch group for those interested in liberal religion and politics. It is a great chance to meet new people and enjoy lively and interesting discussions. We will meet on the second Wednesday of each month at a restaurant near the church. For more information contact Sonia Hernandez.
Green Sanctuary Team
Our Unitarian Universalist principles call us to respect the interdependent web of all existence of which we are part. Our Green Sanctuary Team offers the congregatuon opportunities to become better educated about issues that impact our environment and ways which we can each personally live more in harmony with the Earth.

Women's Spirituality Group
BAUUC's Women’s Spirituality Group meets on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 10:00am at the church. We gather to explore our spirituality and beliefs, offer one another support, and share reflections on a book we are reading together.

Knitting the Spirit
Please join us for knitting, crocheting or whatever you are working on, as well as fellowship and the opportunity to give to others. Beginners are welcome; we’ll teach you.

Once a quarter, the walls of Cockrell Hall at BAUUC are filled with fresh artistic voices of Houston from all faith and personal backgrounds. Come out to enjoy the opening night without driving downtown! Exhibits run for two months each.

Office Volunteer Team
Volunteers assist in staffing our church office on weekday mornings and afternoons. They answer phones, work on our church publications and perform needed administrative and clerical duties. Come and be a part of our awesome Office Volunteer team.

Parents Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays offers support for parents and family members of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. Whatever stage in the journey you are at, the Clear Lake chapter of PFLAG Houston is here to support you in your next step. Support meetings are every fourth Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at BAUUC.

Building & Grounds Ministry Team
Taking care of our church home. By working with our church Sexton, our Grounds & Building Ministry Team tends to repairs, maintenance, and improvements of the church building and natural habitat landscape. Whatever your handywork skill or lawnmower prowlessness, we need volunteers.

Worship Ministry Team
Trained lay members of the congregation assist our minister in presenting Sunday worship services. Our Worship Team is also active in planning worship experiences, coordinating guest preachers, and gathering feedback about worship from the congregation.

Keep a close ear to those in need by assisting our minister with pastoral care of members and friends of the congregation as well as promoting healthful living. We make hospital calls, cards, phone calls, meals, assistance with chores or childcare, and transportation to doctors for those in need. Near the end of lives, we provide respite for families and help with preparation of memorial services or receptions. Some people just need a visit or an empathetic listener.

Adult Discussion Group
Join us every Sunday morning for diverse discussions centered around common text on spirituality, humor, current events, and more. No preparation needed and all are welcome to attend.

Hospitality Ministry Team
We practice radical hospitality within our congregation by facilitating social events, games, discussions, and dinners. Join us for Sunday Lunches, Wednesday Night Dinners, weekly lunch groups for men and women, End of the Month Parties, UU Camping events, and many other fun food and fellowship happenings.

Service & Justice Ministry Team
This Ministry Team supports and organizes community service and social justice activities of the congregation. Together with the entire church we donate our time, talent and treasure, perform hands-on service, and advocate for our neighbors in need.

Humanists of Houston
Religious Humanism is among the many religious paths embraced and celebrated by Unitarian Universalism. The Clear Lake chapter of Humanists of Houston meets at BAUUC on the first Friday of each month at 7:00pm. Meetings offer discussion, exploration and connection for those whose primary religious concerns center around human values and ethics rather than belief if a theist God.

Bay Spirit Pagan Group
Pagans of all ages participate the first and fourth Friday of each month at 7:00 p.m. Many nature-based religions find Unitarian Universalism quite comfortable at are active members of both faiths.

Membership Ministry Team
Our Membership Ministry Team helps connect visitors and new members to our church community and help them along their path to spiritual growth. Our friendly group of greeters meets newcomers at the door on Sunday mornings to welcome them. We present regular "New UU" classes which offer an introduction to Unitarian Universalism.

Meet & Eat Women's Lunch
Join the women of BAUUC every Tuesday at noon for fellowship and conversation over lunch at a local restaurant. Open to all women of our congregation and friends of BAUUC. Locations are announced in the Weekly Briefs and the Sunday Order of Worship.

BAUUC Community Garden
Community is at the heart of our garden! Church members and neighbors work together to produce food for ourselves and to donate to local food pantries. We all share the work, plants, and conversation freely. Community Garden Workdays are scheduled on the second Saturday morning of each month.
