Care Team/Caring Committee

Mission Statement

  • To provide, in conjunction with the minister, compassionate care to members of the congregation who need and desire personal or emotional support.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide caring contacts in times of special need, and to celebrate joyous occasions.
  • Make recommendations to the Board regarding the over-all functioning of the care programs of the church.
  • Organize “cluster groups” of members who live in geographic proximity. Manage the communication phone tree.

Care coordinator:

  • Is responsible for the coordination of the functions of the caring committee.
  • Communicates with the Minister and initiates programs.
  • Communicates with members of the committee and the congregation to be mindful of needs as they arise.

Members:

Shall
  • Be chosen by the minister and care coordinator.
  • Serve for a period of (two?) years.
  • Adhere to ethical guidelines
  • Be available for non-professional conversations and visits with members of the congregation about their personal concerns and issues.

Expectations:

  • Commitment to the goals and purposes of the committee.
  • Honesty and frankness with sensitivity to feelings.

Confidentiality.

  • Holding reasonable expectations of ourselves and others, so that we feel we have the ability and the right to say “no”.
  • During meetings, stay focused on topics so as to accomplish group goals.

Meetings:

  • Shall be held once a month. Minutes will be recorded.
  • Any “action items” that need to be publicized will be communicated to the church administrator and published through the mid week communication and or newsletter.
