Bay Area Unitarian Universalist Church

Worship Services

Worship is at the center of congregational life and spirituality at Bay Area Unitarian Universalist Church.

We are a worshiping community, and every Sunday we gather for two services at 9:30 and 11:30 am to celebrate, give thanks, reflect, pray, and sing. During our worship time together, we strive to lift up the power of our theological diversity and form bonds through the values and principles that unite us. Our worship services are rooted in our Christian and Jewish heritage with wisdom and inspiration drawn from eastern, earth-centered, and humanist traditions. People of all theological perspectives and spiritual practices are welcome here.

Because ours is a tradition of the free pulpit and the free pew, every one of our worship services, religious education classes, business meetings, and fellowship gatherings happens with the expectation that we will not necessarily agree with one another on all matters. Rather, this is a church that values its diversity of opinion and belief, acknowledging that through challenge we often receive the greatest blessings. As sixteenth-century Unitarian minister, Francis David, famously said, "We need  not think alike to love alike." This is the challenging but fruitful path our faith calls us to travel together.
